What is NC Medicare for All?

We believe that health care is not a privilege, but a basic human right. NC Medicare for All is building a bold, inclusive movement to guarantee comprehensive, publicly funded health care for every resident in North Carolina—and across the country. In a time when millions remain uninsured or underinsured, and costs continue to rise, we are united in our call for a health care system that puts people before profits.

NC Medicare for All is a coalition of individuals and organizations across North Carolina dedicated to the creation and implementation of a single-payer, publicly funded health care system. Our vision is grounded in equity, accessibility, and comprehensive care. We are not just advocating for better health coverage—we are demanding structural reform that ensures lifelong, universal, and high-quality health care for everyone, regardless of income, employment, or immigration status.

Our model is based on Expanded and Improved Medicare for All, which includes critical services not covered by traditional insurance—like dental, vision, hearing, mental health care, home health services, and prescription drugs—without premiums, deductibles, or co-pays. We support the principles laid out in recent federal legislation such as the Medicare for All Act of 2025 (H.R. 3069 / S. 1506) and aim to align North Carolina’s efforts with the national movement for health care justice.
